Visit Dewey Short in Branson MO

Branson Missouri, aside from being well-known for its live music shows and theaters, has also gained lots of loyal tourists because of its magnificent outdoors. One thing in particular is the TriLakes Area in Branson. The TriLakes Area is a collection of three beautiful lakes, one of which is the man-made lake Table Rock Lake. Made for flood control purposes, Table Rock Lake has become more than just that. It also offers water activities for the tourists, and it also became the site where one of Branson’s biggest shopping centers rose – the Dewey Short Visitors Center.

Dewey Short Visitors Center is located directly off of Highway 156. This place is named after Congressman Dewey Jackson Short who was the biggest supporter of the Table Rock Dam. When you visit Dewey Short Visitors Center, you can still learn more about the Congressman and his vision. You can find the building perched on the shores of the lake. Since its opening in April 2012, the Dewey Short Visitors center has been known as the “crown jewel” of Table Rock Lake. There is an outdoor viewing deck, walking path, and a small rock garden with a wooden bridge. Inside the Visitors center, you can find a theater and The Discovery Shop, which is also one of the unique gift shops in Ozarks. Here you can find jewelries, wood carvings, hats, shirts, Table Rock themed items, puzzles, books, postcards, and a lot more. This is the best place to shop for souvenir items for yourself and for your loved ones back home.

On the first floor of the Dewey Short Visitors Center, you can find a history of the dam in the wall murals and displays. You can also learn more about the Indians who once lived in the area through the Native American artifact exhibit. A quick lesson about how the dam works can also be found here. Not only that, the displays are also a delight to those who love the aquatic life. You can see fishes, birds and others that you can possibly spot in Table Rock Lake. After all these, try being in the viewing deck to take great photos of the Table Rock Dam.

Dewey Short Visitors Center is certainly a must-visit place. For your Branson visit, make sure you stay in a convenient and comfortable place.
