The Festivals at Silver Dollar City

Located at Branson, Missouri, it had combined a family-oriented amusement park with a 1880s-themed craft village for the enjoyment of its visitors and guests. Silver Dollar City is more than an amusement park with its thrill rides and attractions, craftsmen and women demonstrating their craft in every corner, 40 entertaining shows, 60+ unique shops and restaurants. The 6 Silver Dollar City festivals are spread all throughout the year. It starts with the World-Fest, followed by the Bluegrass and BBQ Festival, National Kids Fest, Southern Gospel Picnic, National Harvest Festival, and ends with the Old Time Christmas festival.

The World-Fest, a celebration of international diversity, goes on from April 7 through May 8. The festival features Kenyan and Chinese acrobats, Canadian and Irish step-dancers, Trinidadian drummers, Italian flag-throwers, Russian circus performers, and so much more. It is the biggest celebration of world culture. Tourists from all over the world flock Branson to witness the impressive myriad shows and performances! It surely is the largest International Festival in America, letting visitors experience different cultures without leaving America’s heartland.

In May, there is a Bluegrass and BBQ Festival where the two classic American traditions come to life in Branson. The term Bluegrass says it all – traditional folk music of America. This Silver Dollar Festival features more than 50 contemporary and traditional bands performing throughout the 16 days of festival, with Bluegrass musicians and singers from all across the country. But of course, you can’t have the Bluegrass without the barbeque! Visitors can enjoy the truly sumptuous and mouth-watering American BBQ with over 300 BBQ sauces at The House of BBQ! Bluegrass and BBQ festival is a special treat for the senses, and even you can’t well decide on which is hotter between the stage and the grill.

During the summer of every year, June through August, visitors of Branson can take their kids to the Silver Dollar City National Kids Fest Festival. It is America’s greatest summer travel destination. Not just the kids but the whole family as well will have fun under the sun with the fascinating street shows, fabulous entertainment and thrilling rides and attractions of this Silver Dollar City festival. It is fun for the young and for the young at heart!

There is also a Southern Gospel Picnic from late August through early September. Since American music of all kinds has been influenced by southern gospel, this festival is a celebration of this heritage both past and the present. Visitors are treated with Southern-style fried chicken meals and other picnic favorites while listening to the visitors’ choice of Gospel Music. And each evening is made colourful by the concerts from the Southern Gospel Nights.

From mid-September through late October, The National Harvest Festival is celebrated in Silver Dollar City. It enthrals the visitors both American and foreign with its wide and vivid array of music and crafts. Wood sculpting, engraving, stained glass works, natural wool-dyeing, birdhouses made from barn wood and woven fabric works are all featured in the festival, along with the craftsmen and women with their craft. Not only that, but also food of different varieties is available for the adventurous tongue. A visit to this Silver Dollar City festival is a treat in itself and a sight to behold!

The last festival of every year is the much awaited Old Time Christmas festival, which runs from November through December. It is considered one of the best places to experience and celebrate Christmas the old fashioned way. The fun theme park Silver Dollar City is transformed into a Christmas wonderland during this time of the year. With over 4 million lights illuminating Silver Dollar City, this Silver Dollar City festival is definitely a must!
