Branson Sports Events Grow Each Year; See Why Branson is an Amateur Sports Hub
Branson Sports Events continue to grow, year after year. Because of a central location and good weather, sports have become one of the major Branson Youth Activities. See why Branson sports are such a big deal!
Scaling down has affected tourism but one segment of the industry is dependable and almost recession proof and that is amateur sports. Your 12 year old daughter is only 12 once, and for her to participate in a competitive sport, most parents will do everything possible to make sure she attends. Talent on Parade, Stage One and Midwest National Spotlight host five days of national dance competition in beautiful Branson, Missouri. Other kids sports in Branson are on the rise as well.
While leisure travel is dropping, youth amateur sports travel holds firm. It’s easy to get people to come to the Ozarks because of its central location. Families are taking mini vacations around competition dates. Places like Branson with three lakes, nine golf course, attractions, theme parks and numerous hiking & biking trails make it very popular. The vacation is extremely affordable when you add a couple extra days on to your group rate room block. Everyone will have a chance to unwind and celebrate accomplishments made in the Branson sports events.
Amateur Branson sports events pay off for communities with the right organization and venues. This summer, the Rec Plex in Branson will host over nine thousand participants in AAU & USSSA tournaments along with several others. The tournament last from two to seven days and attendance will rise above one hundred thousand. The NAIA Division II men’s basketball national tournament is in its sixth season at the College of the Ozarks campus. Thirty two teams will be in Branson for the week long event in March that kicks off the tourist season. Youth hockey, soccer and baseball may not make the local television sportscast or newspaper, but they’re important to a city’s hotels, restaurants, retail stores and attractions.
The clear cool waters of Table Rock Lake welcome the FLW tour, named after Forrest L. Wood, the legendary founder of Ranger Boats, bass fishing tournament in March. FLW is the largest fishing tournament organization in the world offering the anglers the opportunity to compete for millions per year and Branson is proud to host one of these tournaments. While the lake posses plenty of bass, crappie, Kentucky spotted, smallmouth, largemouth, walleye, white bass, catfish, and bluegill, Table Rock is acclaimed as one of the best bass fishing lakes in this hemisphere. Table Rock Lake and nearby Lake Taneycomo host two tournaments for American Bass Anglers. This tournament was started in 1975 with the idea to develop a program that offered military personnel a program similar to ball games. Currently the military team bass tournament is a week long event in May and we’re hoping that Branson will be a considered in the future.
The newest Branson Sports event is the Ironman 70.3 Branson, it is considered a half Ironman, and will be a qualifying series event for the World Championships. Over a thousand professional athletes will be competing for a $25,000 prize purse. The event starts with a 1.2 mile swim in the crystal clear waters of Table Rock Lake, followed by a challenging 56 mile bike course through the rolling hills of the Ozark Mountains and then transition to a flat, spectator friendly, and two–loop run course that will encompass 13.1 miles.
The new Branson Airport provides GA and FBO services, including fueling, catering, hanger facilities car rental and ground transportation. It is one of the first privately financed and operated commercial airports in the United States making it very affordable for your sports groups. Branson is one of America’s top vacation destinations with over eight million visitors each year. It also is surrounded by three pristine lakes and the rolling terrain of the Ozark Mountains perfect for relaxing after your Branson sports events.
