The Promised Land Zoo opened its gates for business last June 18, 2013. It is located on Shepherd of the Hills Expressway and is one of the most unique attractions in Branson. Since its opening, it is fast becoming a favorite destination among locals and tourists alike. A whopping 5-acre attraction, it has over one hundred different animals and forty-four different species, many of which are still babies and youngsters. Take a ride into the wonders of the Promises Land Zoo and behold the different animals that await your visit.

Walking through the neatly mulched hillside paths, you’ll be able to find more than just plants. There are critters like caracals, alligators, prairie dogs, a spider monkey, and so many more! And going further into the safari, you will meet playful Delilah, the lion cub, the sun lowing Bonzai the hyena, Forest Hump (a baby camel, the squirrel monkeys, and an adorable baby zebra that will walk right up to you at the gazebo to say hello. Don’t worry about getting lost because Jungle Josh, one of the zoo’s directors and animal show performer will guide you! You will also get to know one of the other popular baby animals at the Promised Land Zoo – an Olive Baboon named Calamity Jane that Jungle Josh bottle-fed and raised himself. And don’t forget to check out Banana, the world’s largest albino Burmese Python!

Had enough? There’s just so much more that’s waiting for you at the Promised Land Zoo! It is open daily from 9am to 7pm and the last admission ticket is sold at 6:30pm. Every visitor is welcome to walk around the zoo and check out all the animals, take photographs, and ask any question they wish. Here are some of the things you should not miss at the Promised Land Zoo.

  • Parakeet Paradise – a screened house full of exotic birds open from 10am to 6pm. If you want, you can even feed the colourful feathered animals!
  • Live Animal Show – see animals at the show of their own as Jungle Josh and his helpers bring out all sorts of fascinating animals for you to pet and feed while he teacher you facts about the unique animal! Offered everyday at 11am, 1pm, 3pm, and 5pm.
  • Daily Feedings – feed animals and be closer to them! Participate in daily bottle feedings at 10am, 2pm, and 6pm.

The zoo facility includes restrooms, too. Finish your visit at the Gift Shop where are fun nature themed items such as stuffed animals and plastic critters in a can. There are also Promised Land Zoo themed merchandise! The fun never ends as there are even a few animals that are housed in the gift shop!

“Education and Conservation” is the mission at the Promised Land Zoo according to Jungle Josh. Visitors are offered these in a fun and exciting way.
