What’s The Weather in Branson?

Branson Can Be Fun Rain or Shine – If You’re Prepared!

branson-weather-rainIf you have spent any time in Branson, Missouri, the Live Entertainment Capital of the Midwest, you know that the weather can change in a minute. Missouri is well known for being almost bipolar at times about the weather – it can be sixty degrees one week, and showering pellets of ice the next! If you are planning a trip to Branson in the near future, you will want to try and stay up to date on the weather – it will make packing just a little bit easier! Here is a basic guide to the weather in Branson based on the season to help you out.

Summer:

Summer is the big season in Branson – this is when most of the visitors come for their vacation. Kids are out of school, the sun is shining, and there are great summertime activities to be had in Branson! If you are coming to Branson for a warm season trip…expect heat! Missouri can reach temperatures upwards of 100 degrees in the summer – so plan accordingly. Pack lightweight, breathable clothing and shoes. Hats of any kind are excellent for keeping your face shaded. You will certainly want to bring sunglasses (and maybe a spare pair, in case you lose one!) to protect your eyes from harmful UV rays – this is especially true if you will be out on the water, where the sun’s glare is intensified. And don’t forget the sunscreen!

Once you’ve prepared for hot weather in Branson, you also should anticipate a rain shower and a cool night or two. Bring a raincoat and umbrella for those powerful thunderstorms that can crop up quick in the summer – and don’t forget a jacket and long pants for the cooler fronts that can follow!

Fall:

Fall weather in Branson can be beautiful – crisp air, fall leaves, hot drinks, and the like. It can also be frustrating! Fall in Branson often brings cold, frosty nights and sharply cool mornings…followed by a high of 75 degrees during the day. If you will be making an autumn sojourn to the Ozarks, bring clothes that you can easily layer – that way you can stay toasty in the morning, shed layers to stay cool during the heat of the day, and re-layer at night for evening activities. A walk along the Branson Landing, anyone?

Winter:

Just like you expect heat in the summer, expect cold in the winter to be on the Branson weather forecast. Temperatures in the Ozarks can turn dangerously cold – it is not uncommon for the weather in Branson to reach 10 degrees or more below 0. Something else that winter visitors are not always prepared for is ice – Missouri sometimes gets more ice than snow. This makes walking and driving conditions VERY slick. Pack warm, insulated clothing – this includes socks and gloves. Long underwear or fleece lined leggings are also recommended. And bring sturdy soled footwear (preferably waterproof) with good tread – this can help keep you safe while walking around town.

Spring:

Spring brings cool, wet weather to Branson. Again, pack lightweight layers for cooler mornings that you can shed in case the temperature warms. Bring raincoats, umbrellas and rubber boots! April showers are notorious for popping up in the middle of an outdoor activity. It’s also a good idea to bring plenty of extra socks in case of any puddle jumping!
