Silver Dollar City’s Old Time Christmas Celebration
Everybody loves Silver Dollar City’s Old Time Christmas Celebration. It is one of the biggest Christmas attractions in Branson – or anywhere else in the United States, for that matter! Maybe the appeal is the five million plus lights that grace the park in a twinkling glow. Maybe it is the giant Christmas tree. It could be the craftsmen shops filled with hundreds of great gifts. Or maybe it’s the thrill of riding Outlaw Run in the crisp cold of winter! Whatever it may be, the Old Time Christmas Celebration is sure to get you in a festive mood.
Holiday Festivities: There is something festive for even the grumpiest of Scrooges during the Old Time Christmas at Silver Dollar City. The entire park is lit up from top to bottom during the holiday season, a feat made possible by over five million Christmas lights. You will also find a thousand decorated Christmas trees throughout the property. Make sure to stop by and watch the five story special effects Christmas tree as it lights up and shimmers in time to the music of classic Christmas carols! You will also want to find a good spot to watch the Holiday Light Parade, where you will catch a glimpse of a giant gingerbread house, the Sugar Plum Fairy, and maybe even Santa Clause. Also featured during the Old Time Christmas are two Broadway-style holiday productions: A Dickens’ Christmas Carol and It’s a Wonderful Life. Other great shows include The Living Nativity and Frosty.
Holiday Shopping: You will find something for everyone on your nice (or naughty!) list here at Silver Dollar City during the Old Time Christmas Celebration. Over two dozen distinctive shops await you here at the park, filled to the brim with themed and handcrafted items everyone will love. Visit Brown’s Candy Factory for a sample of some homemade peanut brittle and to find some sweet stocking stuffers. At Jingle Bell Junction, you’ll find everything Christmassy and more. The pottery shop offers a selection of mugs, bowls, vases, pie plates and more – all handcrafted within ‘city’ limits. If you are looking for a unique showpiece, the glass blowers at the local glass shop will create the artistic glass item you desire – right before your very eyes! Candles, leatherwork and hand forged items from the blacksmith’s shop are other great gifts you will find at the park. Thrill seekers can also purchase Outlaw Run or Wildfire merchandise to commemorate a daring ride.
Holiday Food: One of the best parts of the Old Time Christmas Celebration is quite possibly the food! Yummy eats that are not available at other times and festivals throughout the year are awaiting hungry visitors at restaurants and food stands around the park. After a chilly ride on Powder Keg or the Giant Barn Swing, warm up with a steaming cup of rich hot cocoa or a mug of spicy yet sweet wassail. After a nice hot sweet potato on a stick, enjoy a buttery, flaky apple dumpling topped with a creamy scoop of cinnamon ice cream. You won’t leave the park hungry!
Silver Dollar City’s Old Time Christmas Celebration has brought the holiday spirit into the hearts of millions of visitors over the years. Start making (or continuing to make) your holiday memories there this Christmas season!
