Thankful For a Branson Christmas

Branson Christmas time is just wonderful. This is such a generous and loving community with lots of organizations and churches who assist during these tough economic times.  Everywhere you go you hear Christmas greetings and the sound of the Salvation Army bell ringing and then I enjoy a quite drive home on a clear cold night after the hustle and bustle of the day.  Last night while I was enjoying all the bright twinkling lights it reminded me of when I worked for Silver Dollar City and after a busy night and the guest are gone walking the quiet city street enjoying the light display.  Local businesses stopping by the office daily with cards, gifts and thanks for the groups we send. What a blessing it is to live and work here at Thousand Hills Resort in beautiful Branson, MO.

Branson Christmas Lights Named a Top 10 Destination!

We locals know the Branson Christmas Lights are something special, but it's nice to know the rest of the country thinks so too! Prominent TV shows and travel sites have been naming Branson, Missouri as a top 10 Christmas lights destination for many years, and 2011 is no exception!

It wasn't too long ago that Good Morning America, the always popular morning show, named Branson and Silver Dollar City as one of the best places to see Christmas lights in America. It appears they weren't alone in their opinion, as Yahoo Travel just named Branson Christmas Lights as one of the top 10 holiday light destinations in the country.

branson christmas silver dollar cityYahoo Travel picked several of the area light shows as notable standouts. Silver Dollar City's "An Old Time Christmas" was an obvious choice thanks to 4 million lights and over 1,000 decorated Christmas Trees - including the 5 Story Multimedia tree in the center of Main Street.

The Branson Area Festival of lights was named as a great place to drive through and see the lights, while Shepherd of the Hills Homestead earned their own accolades for a trip through the historic area, the millions of lights, and of course the incomparable view from the top of Inspiration Tower at night.

If you're planning your own holiday trip to Branson, don't forget our guide to Christmas in Branson, including a map of all the local lights and festivals that you'll want to miss.
