Many people have fond memories of spending time at a summer camp of some sort as a youngster. Perhaps it was camping with grandparents in the woods. Maybe it was a horse themed camp with long sunny days spent riding. Or perhaps it was a Boy or Girl Scout camp out. There were probably campfires, s’mores, swimming and stargazing, all creating memories that would last a lifetime. If there is a youngster in your life whom you would like to help create some summer camp memories, consider enrolling them at Kanakuk Kamps in Branson, Missouri – it’s sure to be a summer of fun they won’t forget.

Kanakuk Kamps began as a boy’s camp in 1926. It was originally called Kugaho Kamp, and was founded by C.L. Ford of Dallas, Texas. Over the next several years, the camp changed hands a few times and in 1958, the current owners opened Kanakomo Kamp for girls. The popularity and size of the camps continued to grow as time went on, and several different divisions of the camp were opened to provide more youth with more services. Today, Kanakuk Kamps is America’s premier summer camp experience, ready to provide the summer adventure of a lifetime based on Christian principles to boys and girls ages seven to eighteen.

The mission statement of Kanakuk Kamps is “developing dynamic Christian leaders through life changing experiences, godly relationships, and spiritual training.” The entire camp system is based on three principles: 1. The I’m Third doctrine, which emphasizes putting God first, others second and yourself last 2. The Four Square Life, based off of Luke 2:52 – ‘And Jesus increased in wisdom, in stature and in favor with God and man’ 3. The Let Your Light So Shine principle, based off of Matthew 5:16 – ‘Let your light shine before men in such a way that they may see your good works and glorify your Father who is in Heaven’ Through these principles, Kanakuk encourages an excellent relationship with Christ through nondenominational sports training, mentoring and other camping adventures in a safe and stable environment.
